Castel dell'Ovo, seat of the X International Greenaccord Forum, an important international conference on the topic of waste
Today starts the X Greenaccord International Forum which will be held at Castel dell'Ovo and which promises to open and develop interesting debates on the topic of waste. In particular, over one hundred journalists from all continents, together with scientists of international importance, will put forward their ideas about a new approach on the subject. It will end on November 9th.
The proposed questions will be numerous, but we will try to address them in an innovative and effective way. How to reduce the number of waste? By what means can it be stimulated reuse and recycling, especially of durable goods? What are the disposal systems that have less impact? They exist in Italy, and in the world, experiences to be reproduced? How can the economic empire built by organized crime on this issue be countered?
Quest and many other questions we will try to answer. And the presence of hundreds of journalists it will be fundamental because they will be the ones to communicate with the public opinion of their own countries.
Among the scientists present at the Greenaccord Forum, there will be world-renowned names: Robert Costanza (ecological economist, teaches Public Policy at the Australian National University and invented the Genuine Progress Index), William Rees (professor at British Columbia University and historical creator of the so-called "Ecological Footprint"), Gary Gardner (researcher at the Worldwatch Institute ), Friederich Hinterberger (SERI), Héctor Castillo Berthier (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México), Paul Connett (scientist, creator of the "zero waste" strategy).
Furthermore, the presence of. Should not be underestimated fifty students of ten high schools in Campania. They will actively participate in an environmental education project carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment in order to be able to compare themselves with the best offered by world academic research.
The information that will be obtained during the four days of the Forum will be useful not only to spread what they will learn, but also to realize processed multimediai that they will use to show “positive or negative realities of the territory linked to the theme of waste and its management”.
Their work will be judged by a jury of representatives of the Ministry of the Environment, the scientific director of the association Greenaccord, the Provveditore to the schools of Campania and two journalists of the Greenaccord network. This jury will decide the two best papers and the winners will come rewarded in a new public event that will take place in Naples in the future.
