The exhibition of Salvatore Fergola's great masterpieces at the Palazzo Zevallos in Naples

Al Palazzo Zevallos Stigliano a Napoli has been set up first great exhibition dedicated to Salvatore Fergola, the last court painter who was the protagonist of the splendor of the Kingdom of the two Sicilies under the dominion of Francis I and Ferdinand II of Bourbon.

The organizers of the event are Luisa Martorelli, Fernando Mazzocca and Antonio Ernesto Denunzio, while Lucia Anna Iovieno took care of the installations.

The exhibition, which can be admired until 2 April 2017, includes 63 works between paintings and canvases that come from various museums, including the Capodimonte Museum, the Royal Palace and the San Martino Museum.

Fergola It is known to have immortalized some of the most important historical moments, for example the inauguration of the first railway built under the reign of Ferdinand II (the Naples-Portici railway), the inauguration of one of the last sailing ships before the advent of steam hulls, the construction of the first suspension bridge in ferro (Ponte Real Ferdinando sul Garigliano), the return of King Ferdinand I to Naples in 1815 or the San Carlo Fire in 1816. A unique exhibition to rediscover a great protagonist of painting that has been forgotten until today. For the occasion the National Railway Museum of Pietrarsa provided a model of the first steam train.
