Il 5 October is a date that marked an important event in the history of music, in fact, in 1962 the first single entitled love me do and signed by two great artists, namely John Lennon and Paul McCartney for the Beatles.

And this very day was chosen by MANN, the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, to celebrate the return of the mosaic to the collection with Head of Medusa that once decorated the house of the Citharist in Pompeii.

This is not a coincidence, there is in fact an invisible thread that binds the British musician John Lennon to the ancient find, a story that intertwines history, art, rock and the culture of peace.

The memorial dedicated to John Lennon

Head of Medusa, the wonderful mosaic of about two meters by two of surface that decorated the floor in opus tessellatum of the Pompeian domus, inspired the Imagine mosaic of the memorial dedicated to the great singer-songwriter John Lennon.

The memorial is located in New York's Central Park, in the area dedicated to him and named Strawberry fields. The commemorative mosaic was created by the Neapolitan artist Antonio Cassio in the early 1980s and was donated to the New York City Council by the Municipality of Naples. At the center of the work, the central head of Gorgon was replaced to make room for the symbolic writing of Picture, or the title of the artist's most famous song.
