"Play to perfection" this is the title of the new exhibition to be held at MANN, al National Archaeological Museum of Naples from 10 December 2021 to 2 June 2022.
The exhibition will be very special because it will make well available to visitors 50 finds which were recovered from deposits of the museum, these are real toys used by our ancestors as well as works of art that depict them.
The exhibition dedicated to toys
The exhibition Play to perfection at MANN it will occupy 5 rooms of the Museum, in which you can admire jointed and collectible dolls, toys from 2500 years ago, including the small chariot which was used to play by some children of Pompeii as well as contemporary artistic signs.
The exhibition is a real treasure that houses unseen and unique artifacts in the world, curated by Paul Giulierini, the director of the Archaeological Museum ed Ermanno Tedeschi.
The sections of the exhibition
Six will be the sections that will make up the exhibition or:
- childhood
- childhood
- the simple game
- the games that make you grow
- toys
- the games that make you grow up
Each section will have as its main theme the comparison between the finds and their current forms. There will be the first kite represented an Attic pottery, dice and knucklebones.
And then two more children kneeling and one in toga from Pompeii, the statuettes of kourotrophos, the bird-shaped ceramic bottle, a Cupid in the cradle.
There will be terracotta puppets, Pompeian comic masks, frescoes with the nail game and hide and seek and much more.
