Arancia Meccanica returns to the Bellini Theater in Naples

On stage at the Bellini Theater in Naples, for the second consecutive year, the theatrical adaptation of "A Clockwork Orange", directed by Gabriele Russo with music by Morgan

After the huge success of last year (here the review of Napolike), the Bellini Theater proposes to the public the theatrical adaptation of Clockwork Orange, based on the famous novel by Anthony Burgess written in the 1962 and adapted well for the screen by the director Stanley Kubrick in 1971.

To take care of the direction, after 51 years from the original draft, is Gabriele Russo, who claims to have experienced, in reading Burgess's original novel, the feeling of being already in front of a dramaturgical text, to which it was necessary to associate functional and original music, bursting and out of the box, just like those of Kubrick's film . It is for this reason that the choice fell on one of the most extravagant and over the top musicians on the national music scene: Morgan.

The eclectic musician managed to create one sound score inspired by Beethoven's classical music, deformed and adapted to give shape to a rarefied and oneiric world, that of Alex's nightmare, protagonist and narrator in the first person of the story. "Visions, music and rhythm will be punctuated by the protagonist's feelings, while the scene will be a black box inside which Alex's visions will materialize, installations of contemporary art that will self-destruct in the next scene".

Once again, it will be possible to watch, at the theater, the surreal, ultraviolet and deformed story of the protagonist Alex, played by Daniele Russo, and its Drughi, transforming Clockwork Orange in the transposition of a nightmare with dreamlike atmospheres. It is about the Alex's inner and perceptive world, here seen as the absolute protagonist of the stage action. His feelings, his visions, are the engine of the drama, and the viewer is dragged, almost with the same violence that we witness, to be part of it.

The thin line between good and evil, the relationship between victim and executioner, the connection between the violence of the single individual and that of society, are expressed through the emblematic character of Alex. One emerges extreme portrait of society, of a totalitarian state that leaves no freedom of choice, ever more inclined to control consciences.
