Casalnuovo of Naples is preparing to live its traditional Carnival, an event that stands out every year for its ability to combine joy and social reflection. The "Carnival in Casalnuovo" has become an unmissable event for the community, offering not only fun but also moments of profound awareness on important issues.
History and evolution of the carnival
Born in 2019, "Carnival in Casalnuovo" it immediately won the hearts of the citizens. After a forced break due to the pandemic, the event is back stronger than ever, offering allegorical floats and parades that go beyond simple entertainment, touching emotional and social chords deep.
Carnival and social themes: the float against violence against women
This year, the Carnival addresses a topical theme: the violence against women, in particular remembering the sad story of Giulia Cecchettin. The initiative follows the event's tradition of bringing sensitive issues to public attention, as done last year with the theme ofautism. Red balloons and symbols of the fight against violence against women will characterize one of the floats, in an awareness message that involves adults and children.
Tailoring celebration
A tribute to the art of dressmaking, Casalnuovo's pride, will not be missed. A special float, created by Emanuele Morelli and Filippo Bertolucci, will enhance the craft of the tailor through papier-mâché creations that reproduce typical tools of the trade, a symbol of tradition and local craftsmanship. The float is a bridge between the historic tailor's shop of Casalnuovo and the famous Carnival of Viareggio, where Morelli and Bertolucci practice their art.
The program of the event
The 2024 edition of the “Carnival in Casalnuovo” will take place from 10 13 to February, with a program full of events:
- Saturday February 10: evening parade along Corso Umberto and in the central area.
- Sunday February 11: morning parade on Via Nazionale delle Puglie and Tavernanova.
- Monday February 12: Carnival party for children at the Parco delle Chiocciole.
- Tuesday February 13: final party with music, entertainment and awards for the most beautiful masks.
