A small town in Molise has minted a new coin in honor of the pibe de oro, Diego Armando Maradona, and soon there will also be a banknote!

Castellino del Biferno a small town in Molise, in the province of Campobasso, has coined a coin to pay homage at the golden pibe, Diego Armando Maradona, who passed away on November 25, 2020.

It is another of the many free gifts that not only Napoli but in fact other cities of Italy have also wanted to dedicate to Maradona, to underline the great affection for a man who made the history of football.

The new currency for Maradona

The coin that was minted for Diego Armando Maradona shows on one side the face of the pibe de oro, while on the other side it depicts the coat of arms of the Bourbons and corresponds to two ducats, or two euros, currently there are about 2 thousand copies.

The town of Molise has therefore anticipated Argentina which is in fact preparing to issue its own official currency dedicated to the player. The mayor of Castellino del Biferno, Enrico Fratangelo, also promises the release of one by Easter 2021 banknote worth 10 ducats always as a tribute to Maradona.
