The beloved Neapolitan volcano will be the protagonist of a cycle of excursions to discover the history, culture and territory!

Beautiful and Damned, the Vesuvio Neapolitan is one of the undisputed symbols of the city and a precious wealth, as well as naturalistic, rich in history.

To discover this heritage, the 1 March 2015, will start "Vesuvio Cooltour", a charming cycle of excursions that will reconstruct the past of the Neapolitan volcano.

The initiative, organized by the association Vesuvio Nature, will end the 29 March 2015 and will propose, from time to time, a rich program of themed itineraries dedicated to Vesuvius.

In the paths immersed in uncontaminated nature, the tours will tell the story of the populations who settled before the Romans, the famous ones eruptions of 79 AD and 1944, the vicissitudes of Bourbons, Brigantes, medieval hermits and the many popular traditions.

Visitors-hikers can discover the nature, the geology, the archeology, the culture and the Vesuvian art, accompanied by landscapes and views breathtaking, among a thousand colors, harmoniously mixed with the black of the volcanic earth.

A month of interesting walks, therefore, to rediscover one of the most renowned Neapolitan natural beauty and envied by the world.

March 1 2015
25000 years ago on the Conventual Cones of Pollena Trocchia
The excursion starts from the municipality of Pollena Trocchia where, once reached Piazza Amodio Nicola and along via Alveo Pollena in the locality of Carcavone, we arrive at the site of the Vesuvio National Park from where the path for visiting the convent of Monte Somma leaves. Along the trail the guides will retrace the prehistoric geological history of the Vesuvius volcano, reading from the rocks and sections the history of the Vesuvian populations up to the time of the Romans, and beyond. After the naturalistic visit, about 2 hours, we will move to the Roman archaeological site of Pollena Trocchia, site edited by the Apolline Project, where, in a visit of about 1 now, we will visit the remains of a Roman villa led by archaeologists who took care of the excavation.

The 79 AD and the three days of Pompeii
The excursion starts from the town of Ercolano along Via Osservatorio to the 1000m parking area of ​​the Vesuvio National Park. From there take the path that leads into the caldera of Mount Somma, called the Valley of Hell, to understand the nature of the volcano that, in 79 AD, destroyed with its eruption Pompeii and Herculaneum.

Vesuvius of the Bourbons and of the Brigands
The excursion starts from the town of Ercolano, Via Osservatorio 55 at the LabAMV, National Park of Vesuvius. It is from here that the path that leads inside the Forest Reserve starts, called "Tirone Alto Vesuvio" and better known as Piano delle Ginestre. After the naturalistic visit, the stage will be the center of the city of Torre del Greco, where before the eruption there was the coastline, to visit thanks to the team of the Vesuvio Association, the church of Santa Maria del Principio, the whose frescoed chapel of the Madonna, although enveloped by lava, remained unscathed.

Popular traditions and medieval hermits
One of the most difficult paths of the Volcano, not by chance chosen by hermits as a spiritual refuge and by brigands and as a place to hide from the authorities of the time. An arduous and demanding climb, which culminates however in reaching Punta Nasone, where today folklore is more alive than ever thanks to the traditions of the Somma Vesuviana parish that at this point have raised an altar to the Madonna that several times, together with various saints , has stopped the destructive lava of Vesuvius and saved its inhabitants. The excursion starts from the town of Ercolano, Via Osservatorio 55 at the LabAMV, National Park of Vesuvius, from here you will reach on foot the path n ° 3 "The Monte Somma". The route starts at 800m and reaches the highest peak of Monte Somma at 1131m slm. where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Vesuvius and the lava flow of the 1944. Once you reach the summit the view is incomparable.

The eruption of the 1944 with complete tour of the Gran Cono
The path that allows the ascent to the Grand Cone of Vesuvius starts from the Park Ticket Office at 1000m and reaches 1170m, winding in a series of extremely scenic hairpin bends that allow you to admire the ancient Mount Somma volcano separated from the Vesuvius from the Valle del Gigante and the Colle Umberto headquarters of the Vesuvian Volcanological Observatory, the first in Italy founded in 1841. Once the Presidium of the Vulcanological Guides has been reached, we will continue along the crater stretch that reaches 1281m slm. . The view that you admire is of rare beauty, and you can feel the sensation of being inside the mouth of the volcano, alive, present, unpredictable and smoking. Finally we reach Capannuccia and continue downhill on the south-eastern side of the volcano.
