Daniel Buren at Madre with Axer Désaxer: a work of mirrors and colors revolutionizes the entrance

French artist Daniel Buren exhibits an on-site installation that breathes new life into the atrium of the Madre Museum!

The Madre Museum in Naples hosts a new and evocative work by the French artist Daniel Buren , entitled Axer / Désaxer. Lavoro in situ, 2015, Madre, Naples – #2 , which is the second of two interventions specifically created by the artist for the museum's spaces.

The work Axer/Desaxer is a site-specific installation that characterizes the entrance to the museum , with which we aim to give a completely innovative visual perspective, almost as if visitors were embraced by the structure upon their arrival.

To achieve this effect, the sculptor used it colored surfaces, mirrors and lines of 8,7 cm, creating a contiguity between the outside and the inside.
Through this peculiar architectural design, an attempt is made to “rotate” the museum, allowing it to align itself with Via Settembrini, the address of the entrance.

Buren thus encourages, with his performance art, the sense of belonging that everyone should feel towards works and museums. In this way, the bond between the artist, the work, and the place in which it was conceived is strengthened.

We remind you that the Madre museum will remain open free of charge during the month of August.
