This is the theatrical adaptation of Siberian Education, the training novel written by Nicolai Lilin and which in a very short time had a great worldwide success, until becoming a film directed by Gabriele Salvatores and starring John Malkovich.

The story revolves around the story of two very different brothers, Boris, the "right" who respects the teachings of the Siberian tradition, e Yuri, the rebel, ready to break every rule and betray his family for the love of the money God and to fulfill his American dream. A story that is a metaphor for the situation that arose in the post-Soviet period in society as a whole, due to the socio-political factors that generated chaos in the people exhausted by the dictatorship and hungry for freedom.

A scene from the show "Siberian Education" at the Bellini Theater

Siberian Education and also inspired by the personal life of the author who was born in Transnistria, a region of the former Soviet Union today Moldova, and was part of the Siberian Urka, the last descendants of a warrior lineage who define themselves as "honest criminals" and who possess an ethical code and rules that are incorruptible even if criminal. In this lineage the children were raised in the cult of weapons and violence, together with all the criminals expelled from Siberia, under the guidance of adoptive "grandparents", the elderly criminals, who transmitted sometimes conflicting values: friendship, loyalty, the sharing of goods, but also the culture of tattoos and violence.

But in the district of Fiume Basso, when the culture of new criminals arrives, juggled by the Russian authorities, nothing will be the same again. And you will realize that it was right "The distorted perception of freedom that has pushed people towards extreme acts, up to the dramatic degradation of souls".
