A fascinating excursion on the slopes of Mount Miseno to discover the history and nature of a place full of Roman testimonies

Miseno, a small fraction of the municipality of Bacoli in the province of Naples, offers many natural and archaeological beauties, as well as the whole Flegrean area.

Discovering these beauties is always a fascinating experience Sunday May 10 2015, thanks to the Misenum cultural association it will be possible to make an interesting one guided tour of the peak of Mount Miseno.

More precisely, aexcursion that will start from the slopes of the mountain to reach the top, through streets and alleys that climb up to the summit giving the visitor a amazing view, which becomes more and more breathtaking as it rises, and revealing numerous testimonies of what was the great past of the so-called Misenum.

The visit will start at the Sacello degli Augustali, an important monumental complex dedicated to the cult of the Emperor Augustus dating back to the second half of the II century AD and currently semi-submerged due to the phenomenon of bradyseism. During the excursion it will be possible to observe the many Roman testimonies that still today confirm the greatness and profound knowledge, in the architectural field, of a great people.
