Ghosts of Naples: exhibition at the Royal Palace of the works of Giuseppe Antonello Leone

Can Tuttocittà become art? The answer is yes, and the multifaceted artist Giuseppe Antonello Leone confirms it. His latest works are on display in the Historic Apartment of the Royal Palace , in an exhibition entitled Ghosts of Naples.

These are 33 drawings created by the Irpinia artist on the boards of Tuttocittà in Naples , the information brochure on individual Italian cities, primarily containing street maps. These works were created in 2006 but have never been exhibited publicly, and are now being made known.

Inventive, imagination, fantasy, emerge from those pages of paper with streets drawn in white that, for once, are used as artistic material.

On them the artist sees and traces the profiles of the “ghosts” of his own childhood expressed through figures born from the stories of his mother and grandmother, from tales of the author, from the imagination and from the poetic interpretation of reality.

The exhibition is organized on the initiative of the Bellivergari Cultural Association which deals with the protection and conservation of the master's works, is supported by the Banco di Napoli Foundation and sponsored by the Municipality of Naples.
