Monte di Procida is the first festival dedicated to the flavors of tradition and modernity, with homage to street food and the famous Cheese Steak!
You know the Cheese Steak? This is the famous and increasingly popular "stretched" sandwich invented by the Italian-American Pat Olivieri in Philadelphia, which has become a real symbol of "street food" in the United States since the XNUMXs.
Il Cheese Steak, now very popular in many pubs, is stuffed by slices of beef cut very thinly and mix on the plate together with the cheese, usually provolone or melted American cheese (the famous cheddar English or American spun cheeses). Someone also seasoned with onions and peppers.
Not everyone knows that a Monte di Procida, in the province of Naples, will be held on first event dedicated to this delicacy, within the Festival "Tradition and Contemporary: Street food and cheese steak", scheduled for Thursday 24 April 2014 from 19.
In one of the most suggestive terraces overlooking the Campi Flegrei, there will be an important and greedy appointment with the seeds Neapolitan gastronomy (of which the street food is an important testimony) and the contemporaneity, of which the Cheese Steak, a dish that arrived in Monte di Procida in the XNUMXs, when families who had emigrated to the United States returned home, bringing with them some culinary innovations.
During the festival you can also taste local wines and some specialties of Monte di Procida gastronomy, ranging from salty to sweet, as well as admiring the local artisanal creations on display.
On the occasion of the Cheese Steak Festival and street food, also in Monte di Procida, the following day, the 25th April, will also be held guided tours and excursions organized byPromo & Decoro association, like a boat trip to get to know the ancient torpedo factory of the San Martino Island and a visit to the Necropolis, the hamlet of Casale and the ancient cellars of the small hamlet of Cappella, with lunch on the terrace.
