Ficarra and Picone, between gags and funny bickering, make us reflect on the absurd aspects of our society!

After a few years of absence, the comedians Ficarra and Picone they return to perform in Naples bringing on stage a show tested a few years ago. With “Open Heaven” at the Diana Theater, the Sicilian duo brings on stage all its ironic verve in a pièce full of jokes and opposed against the paradoxes of our society and funny sketches on everyday defects and obsessions of a common man.

The comedy

The show is a single act two enthralling hours that are easily followed, but divided into paintings. We find ourselves, thus, in front of three different scenes, one the continuation of the other, which carry on a surreal and funny story, starting point for a series of reflections on the dynamics of Italian society.
Between one scene and another, the picture changes quickly, leaving the viewer in a brief, never boring wait, because the changes to the scenography are accompanied by music that keeps the attention high, while the curtain never falls.

Each painting is characterized by bright colors, both in the furnishings and in the costumes of the two protagonists, which seem to reflect the same vivacity of the bickering of the two characters who hold the scene: Valentino and Salvo, who play themselves, two men grappling with problems that border on the absurd.

The themes

Ficarra and Picone stage a show that keeps the spectator's interest alive from the first scene, in which two inexperienced aerialists find themselves having to look for an alibi for the murder of a man, not committed by them, ending up by complicate the situation to the extreme, even causing other murders. A way, this, not only to entertain the public, but to stimulate one reflection on the ridiculous aspects of our everyday reality. What we also find in the second picture in which, in the presence of a libidinous priest and his integralist altar boy, the two Palermitans highlight the bigotry present in some ecclesiastical circles.

A critique of the religious world that returns in the third framework, in which the two antennas of the first scene, now arrived in XNUMX. Paradiso because deceased, they find themselves compiling an infinite series of modules to be able to access the presence of the Father. Struggling with one heavy bureaucracy, typical of "mere mortals", which should not also characterize the "spiritual world".

Between one gag and another, there is no shortage of ironic digs even in the world of politics, without ever delving into each issue too much, but to get to underline what really matters in the vitto: the true, authentic bonds, the friendship that goes even beyond death.
A show that wants to make people think, but above all to have fun and remember to never lose sight of what really matters in life.
