Il Giro d'Italia returns to Naples in 2023, the organizers have recently confirmed by announcing that our beautiful city will be the sixth of the Giro and the11 May 2023. The stage that took place for this year's Giro d'Italia earned a huge success, in fact, that of Naples was the 3rd most viewed on TV Mondo thanks to the beautiful places in our city and the Phlegraean area between Bacoli and Monte di Procida.

It will be a Naples-Naples stage, in the sense that it will start from the capital of Campania, but will also return there precisely for the conclusion of the stage itself.

The route, in fact, starting from Naples, it will continue in the Vesuvian areas, touching Pompei and other beautiful places, to return to the city. It will cross wonderful places in our Region.

The route of the stage of the Giro d'Italia in Naples

The Napoli-Napoli is one of those stages that is defined as a "move", a nervous one, a middle ground suitable for both climbers and sprinters, because it will be 160 km with two flying goals, i.e. intermediate, and two mountain grand prix, that is, at the end of challenging climbs. In short, a short but intense stage.

The route includes:

  • departure from Napoli;
  • you will cross the internal area of ​​the Vesuvio to Pompei and its archaeological area;
  • you will get on the Chiunzi Pass until the descent towards Ravello and Amalfi;
  • they will reach each other Positano e Sorrento;
  • you will go up the Sorrentine peninsula and we will cross the Vesuvian belt;
  • we will return to Napoli.

The departure and arrival from Naples are not yet officially known, but most likely they will be from Piazza Plebiscito for the start and on Lungomare for arrival.

Flying goals and mountain prizes

The two flying goals mentioned will be a Pompei and Castellammare, while the two mountain grand prix will be on Chiunzi Pass at the 48th km and at an altitude of 683 meters the first, while the second 95 ° km a Head of World in 469 meters.

Subsequently, the runners will descend towards Sorrento for the last 50 km, all flat.

The other stages in Campania

The next Giro d'Italia also includes two other stages in Campania:

  • one in province of Avellino arriving in Laceno;
  • one with a finish line at Salerno.
