Jousting and Knights of the Renaissance period return to Naples, for a weekend dedicated to the glorious past of our city
We inform you that, due to an exceptional press release from the Superintendency of Naples in which it is warned that for technical reasons it is appropriate to move the event from Piazza del Plebiscito to another suitable location, the organization was forced to postpone the communication of a new place. We will keep you informed.
In a few days a fascinating appointment with the Renaissance past of our city will be held in Naples, in the suggestive setting of Piazza del Plebiscito.
Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May 2015 it is scheduled, in fact, on the occasion of May of the Monuments, Grand Giostra of the seats of Naples, a unique event that will transport spectators back in time, to the end of the 1400s, in a Naples where i Knights, which represented the various local noble families and the various "Seats" of the city, challenged each other with their horses, their spears and their armor, in days enriched by dances and events of the Neapolitan tradition.
Not everyone knows that since the Aragonese era, Naples hosted the best equestrian events and the best Masters of this discipline. Our city was considered the center of world horse riding, where all the Courts were concentrated in order to learn this great Art.
Organizing the spectacular historical reconstruction event wasASD Association, White Eagle Company di Roberto Cinquegrana, which has managed to bring back to Italy, after about 500 years, the ancient discipline of Carousel in full impact armor, with the purpose of "To spread the medieval equestrian art in order to make this prestigious discipline a real sport with all the Safety Regulations".
But we will not only attend the Joust of the Knights, but also to exciting ones games and fifteenth-century tournaments, shows of flag-wavers and renaissance dance, equestrian galas and awards.
