Following the news presented by President of France Emmanuel Macron, the French have had a real vaccine rush anti-Covid by getting the number of bookings to nearly 1 million in a single day, that is about 20 thousand per minute.

But what exactly are we talking about? It is about some obligations introduced by Macron and presented during his speech to the nation that have literally moved the citizens, especially those still skeptical about the decision to get vaccinated. Among them, the ban on going to restaurants or travel without being vaccinated.

Could a similar thing also happen in Italy? If the situation were to become like that of our French cousins, the chances are high.

Why the surge in vaccine bookings in France

Macron's speech was not just an invitation to get vaccinated, but a real "order" we could say since the risk of having a low percentage of vaccinated will be that of being overwhelmed by a heavy fourth wave.

For this reason, bans have been introduced: those who do not have the Green Pass, therefore those who are not vaccinated, he will not be able to go to restaurants, cinemas, museums, shopping centers and he will not be able to travel by plane and train. As an alternative to the Green Pass, a swab with a negative result can be presented, but it must be carried out systematically.

Vaccination obligation for healthcare workers in France

From 15 September, medical staff and those who work in contact with fragile people, he will no longer be able to go to work and will not be paid if he doesn't get vaccinated. This decision will cause the health sector to go on strike, according to initial reactions.

We remember that in Italy, the vaccination obligation for health personnel started in April 2021 with the decree of the Council of Ministers and those who did not adapt had to change jobs by going to work in sectors where interpersonal contact is not foreseen. In several cases, however, it was impossible to find a different location and in these cases the suspension of remuneration is envisaged.

And will Italy follow France?

Currently in our country the situation is not at this point, but considering that a part of the over 60s, and not only, are still there skeptical of getting vaccinated, something similar could happen to France if a high number of immunized were not reached.

It is not up to us to make any predictions, but we cannot fail to take into consideration that many people have received the appointment for the first dose for the month of August, so in part there is no personal responsibility in not being vaccinated yet.

We can say, however, that other states are also making similar decisions, so we have to wait for the decision of our government, but the race towards compulsory law no longer seems so impossible.

Among the latest news we have the declaration of Pierpaolo Sileri, Undersecretary of Health, issued to 'Il Messaggero':

Do you share this model? “Yes, it is definitely the right choice. We should also do it in Italy, don't ask me why we haven't left yet, I have told Speranza so many times. Let's think of discos, if we allowed clubs to open for customers with the Green pass, we would have the rush of those between 18 and 40 years to get vaccinated. The Green pass, mind you, must not be used by us for bars and restaurants, unless our infections do not reach numbers similar to those in the UK. At that point, no closure, but Green pass, for everything, including restaurants, so you don't have to close. In summary: the Green pass two months ago was a means to reopen earlier, when Italy was yellow or orange. Today it is a means of not going back when the infections will be higher "
