At the Mercadante Theater Geppy Gleijeses plays Goldoni's Liar, which with many scams takes advantage of every situation!
From 8 to 13 March 2016, Teatro Mercadante of Naples will go on stage The Liar of Carlo Goldoni, in the adaptation by Alfredo Arias and Geppy Gleijeses.
Il Bugiardo is one of Goldoni's best known works, represented for the first time in Mantua in the 1750 and inspired by the Verdad Sospechosa by Juan Ruiz De Alarcòn. Gleijeses will also be the protagonist of the story and will interpret the role of Lelio Bisognosi, the liar brilliant and man of the world who, with his imaginative character and almost brilliant mind, will try to profit from every situation he will face.
The plot sees him return to Naples after a long stay in Venice, exploiting his own innate propensity to lie to get as many benefits as possible, taking advantage of every event and even of all the people he meets.
But what starts it will lead to an unmanageable conclusion, enough to force it to succumb, overwhelmed by his own lies.
Il Bugiardo is a new challenge for the Franco-Argentine director Arias, who has just returned from the success of Viviani's Circo Equestre Sgueglia, and who is able to adapt the text to perfection to perfection. ironic and lively trait of his way of doing theater. He is supported, for the realization of the sets and costumes, by Chloe Obolensky, historical collaborator of Peter Brook.
The show is dedicated to Mario Scarpetta, who died in the 2004, actor with whom Geppy Gleijeses made his debut in the 1972.
