Espresso coffee Unesco Heritage: Naples is among the candidates as a symbol city

After pizza and the art of the Neapolitan pizza maker, also the Italian espresso coffee was a candidate, by the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, to become Unesco Intangible Heritage of Humanity and the good news is that Napoli è candidate as a symbol city together with Venice.

Finally, then, after years of attempts and various proposals, the candidacy of coffee and in particular of the "Italian espresso coffee between culture, ritual, sociability and literature in the emblematic communities from Venice to Naples " was accepted.

We just have to wait for the Italian National Commission for Unesco to approve the proposal and transmit it by March 31 in Paris.

Espresso coffee as a symbol and ritual

From north to south, the Espresso, is the most loved and consumed type of coffee, but as stated by the undersecretary Gian Marco Centinaio, coffee for Italians it is not just a drinkbut it is a real one rite, a tradition which you just can't do without.

In Naples then, even more so, in fact coffee has also become the protagonist of solidarity actions such as the very famous one suspended coffee, or the coffee that is already paid for and offered to those who may not be able to afford it.
