The Auletta White Artichoke Festival returns to Salerno: stand and tradition

A period dedicated to artichokes and among the various appointments is added that of the particular variant white of Tanager. Come back with passion”Bianco Tanagro – the Tanagro White Artichoke Festival” which will take place from 28 April at 1 May 2023 at the village of Auletta, a Salerno.

What is the White Artichoke Festival?

The festival takes place during the period when i fields of the Tanagro valley are celebrating, or when the artichoke harvesti is at its peak. During the festival, farmers and the village of Auletta they organize this long weekend of activities to raise awareness of the area and its artichoke. But there will simply not be culinary stands, although of course there will be no shortage of them, but it will be a real one international festival with:

  • markets
  • stands dedicated to tastings
  • cooking show
  • culinary salons
  • guided tours
  • accompaniment musical

Visitors will therefore be able to visit markets which will focus on typical products and local crafts, but also participate in cooking shows and listen to popular music.

The gastronomic "taberne", open every day at Dinner, offer the possibility of taste the local dishes and, on weekends, they are also open to lunch to celebrate this product of excellence.

We know the village of Auletta and the Tanagro White Artichoke

Auletta, a small village located in the heart of Tanagro Valley, has been defined as the "country of oil and hospitality" from afar 1131. This definition represents the fate of the country, which has kept the passion for protection of agricultural products, typical features and traditions, together with the desire to share them.

Work in this place has always been associated with agriculture, and this is where a niche product much appreciated by chefs and gourmets for its organoleptic characteristics and versatility.

Il white artichoke campano is characterized by its softness e softness, so much so that it can be eaten raw. Its natural sweetness and its silver or light green color make it an ideal ingredient for haute cuisine, both as an accompaniment to fish dishes and as a special ingredient for desserts and ice cream.

Until recently, only a few hectares were intended for this variety, which was considered "private“. But thanks to far-sighted farmers and new bets, the future of the Tanagro white artichoke looks bright and increasingly open.
