Porcus Festival in Puglianello (BN): the pig festival in March 2023

Un gastronomic event first-rate is about to conquer the palates of the month of March in Campania: and the porcus festival, a culinary celebration dedicated to pork and its many nuances of taste. The party, organized by the Nuovo Centro Studi Puglianello in collaboration with the Municipality of Puglianello, It will take place on 10, 11 and 12 March 2023 in the brand new location of Via Paribella, located in the heart of Puglianello in Benevento.

The booths of the event they will open from 19:00 onwards, offering a variety of dishes, snacks and drinks related to the central theme of the pig. The party will culminate with a Sunday special where the stands will also be open at lunch, starting at 12:00.

The stands and the foods present at the Porcus Festival

- stand gastronomic events are set up at a heated tensile structure, where they will be able to enjoy the dishes of seeds peasant gastronomy based on pig.

But what will be the dishes offered by the event? We can give you some tasty examples:

  • Gnocchi with tracchie and pork rinds: potato gnocchi served with tomato sauce, pork rinds and tracchie, or the classic pork rib which in Campania is called "tracchia".
  • Rigatoni Amatriciana: short pasta seasoned with tomato sauce, guanciale (part of the pig's cheek), pecorino romano.
  • Pasta with beans and pork rinds: pasta topped with beans, pork rinds and herbs, a timeless traditional dish.
  • Slice, sausage, liver and pork belly: mixed dish of roasted pork.
  • Meat and peppers: pork and peppers cooked together to create a tasty dish.
  • Maritata soup: another dish of the Campania tradition, where vegetables meet meat for a unique marriage.
  • Polenta broccoli and sausage: classic polenta topped with broccoli and pork sausage.
  • Fried pizza: a variant of the classic pan-cooked pizza, stuffed with typical ingredients of Campania cuisine, such as tomato, mozzarella and cicoli.

Visitors will have the honor of savoring the quality of domestic products through this event which, moreover, has become a consolidated reality in the Campania region and beyond.

During the festival there will also be room for entertainment between music and shows:

  • Saturday 11, Animation with tribute to folk music
  • Sunday 12th of, Animation with "The post office" (from 12: 00)
  • Sunday 12th of, animation with Bottarte Tharumbo – Bottari (from 19:00)

The objectives of the Festival

The party aims to recover the animal root grown in the family, using it as raw material household products rather than those of the farm industrial. In this way, Porcus Festival intends to relive the magic of a festive moment that celebrates peasant culture, authentic and capable of interpreting the excellence of the times.
