The Festone di Grottaminarda with music, good food and a white night

From 19 to 23 August 2022, grottaminarda in the province of Avellino, the traditional will take place Festoon, Or the Great Festival of the grotesques. The event has ancient roots and united three different cults, in fact at the same time three saints were venerated:

• The Franciscan Saint Anthony of Padua
• Saint Roch of Montpellier
• St. Thomas Aquinas

Because it is called Festone

Initially, we can say around the 1891 the manifestation did not yet bear the name of Festone, but was identified with the title of feast of Sant'Antonio and San Rocco.

Subsequently, in particular in the first half of the twentieth century, it was decided to use Festoon, just to emphasize its importance. The party takes place over several days ranging from a minimum of two to a maximum of six.

This year will be five days, divided as follows:

• The first day will be of preparation with the arrangement of the statues and the blessing of the bearers
• Two days will be dedicated to the religious festival and classical music
• A day dedicated to pop music
• The last day will be dedicated to fireworks

• 11:00 Deposition of the crown at the Monument of the Fallen

• 19:30 pm the Mayor hands over the keys of the city to the Patron Saint, our Patron Saint Thomas. Following the procession
