The Cechov Cherry Garden on stage at the Mercadante Theater

Luca De Fusco brings "Il Giardino dei Ciliegi" in Čechov to the Mercadante Theater, between Russian setting and Neapolitan atmospheres

It will be on stage until November 30 2014 lo spettacolo The Cherry Orchard which inaugurates the season of Stable Theater of Naples. Already successfully presented at the last edition of the Napoli Teatro Festival, The Cherry Orchard directed by Luca De Fusco represents an unprecedented reinterpretation of the last masterpiece of the Russian playwright Anton Chekhov, written in the 1903.

Luca De Fusco it deals with Chekhov's classic text setting it in atmospheres with a Neapolitan flavor, re-reading the original story, which revolves around the theme of the rising bourgeoisie after the abolition of the ancient feudal system and the consequent fall of the power of the aristocracy, in a "Mediterranean" key.

I have always thought that these landowners, unable to work, unable to fight for their survival, these people who died of champagne, or who ate a fortune in sweets, look like what should have been the ruling class of our midday. in the last century ... the southern flavor of my actors' dialogues, the somewhat childish and somewhat Mediterranean candor of the setting of the story are therefore determined by this ancient idea that I have been carrying around for years

An opportunity to immerse yourself in the fascinating early 900th century Russian literature and attend the evocative direct choreographic movements of Noa Wertheim, the choreographer of the famous Israeli dance company Vertigo Dance Company. Between multimedia projections, and a blinding white emblem of the “suspension” and the “immobility” typical of the classic Chekhovian dramaturgical world.

The company's language records a turning point. After two shows based on absolute black, the Garden will be almost absolute white, with a softer acting and a completely different video presence that will offer a real surprise.
