The sea does not wet Naples: the story of the Ortese at the Teatro Mercadante

The sea does not wet Naples Anna Maria Ortese

The theatrical review "The sea does not wet Naples" dedicated to Anna Maria Ortese returns to the Mercadante Theater

After the resounding success of last year returns to the Stable Theater of Naples the theatrical review dedicated to the five chapters of the novel The sea does not wet Naples, of the Italian writer Anna Maria Ortese.

The sea does not wet Naples, the title of the project, takes its name from the novel of the same name by Anna Maria Ortese, who lived for a long time in Naples, a city that he considered magical, an exceptional source of inspiration. A place full of beauties, but also of contradictions and sufferings, which she was able to identify and tell with literary mastery and at the same time with a spirit of denunciation, so much so as to indign the Neapolitan intellectuals, accused of being indifferent to the problems of the city. The last chapter of her collection, blamed for "anti-napoletanity", cost her the removal of her from her beloved Naples.
