Kate and William break an Easter rule. What happened

Prince William and Kate Middleton

The Prince William and Kate Middleton will celebrate their premiere this year Easter without the late Queen Elizabeth, who passed away in September 2022 at the age of 96. The royal couple will attend Sunday service at St George's Chapel in Windsor, alongside their three children at Windsor Castle.

Despite the Prince William and Kate Middleton they are known for respecting traditions, once they ran out for break a rule cornerstone during the Easter, as reported by Express.co.uk.

Historically, tradition provides that the eldest member of the family come last to the Passover service. Therefore, the Queen has always been the last to arrive, while the rest of the family gathers outside the chapel in anticipation of her arrival. Afterwards, they follow her as she enters first.

The unexpected delay of 2018

We recall, however, that in 2018, Kate and William stayed stuck in traffic and they hurried to get to the service on time. Theirs delay meant that they would come after the late Queen, thus breaking one rule essential to the royal family. They were returning from Kate's family home, where they had spent a few days together with Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Not only did they arrive late, but they also missed the start of the service, forcing them to enter embarrassingly after the others. Also, at the time, Kate was pregnant with Prince Louis.

The late sovereign is likely to have understood the situation, as she was seen smiling and laughing with the couple following the incident.
