The Other Nineteenth Century at the Convent of San Domenico Maggiore showcases dozens of paintings by great artists between the 800th and 900th centuries!

During the Christmas period it was inaugurated, in the Convent of San Domenico Maggiore, which already hosts the Magna exhibition, the exhibition "The Other Nineteenth Century. Paintings from the art collection of the Metropolitan City of Naples".

The exhibition, which will last until 28 February 2016, It's composed by 69 unpublished paintings which were made from the second half of the nineteenth century to the first thirty years of the twentieth century by the major artists of the time, including Edgardo Curcio, Giuseppe De Sanctis, Vincenzo Migliaro, Alceste Campriani, Francesco Saverio Altumura.

The title of the exhibition is emblematic because, through these precious works, we proceed to the re-evaluation of artists little known by the public, but instead in their portraits they represent the artistic taste, the landscape e the socio-cultural aspect of the Italy of the time.

The works have been chosen from the collection of the Province of Naples (renamed Metropolitan City since January) and are curated by Isabella Valente, with the aim of promoting and making known the artistic heritage of our city.
