Also 'Naples Capodichino Airport signed the "Toulouse Declaration", an important agreement based on the decarbonisation of aviation.
We are talking about all those processes and actions aimed at reduce polluting carbon emissions in the atmosphere to achieve, in the future, a result of zero emissions.
The agreement also signed by our airport together with more than 200 European airports it was implemented thanks to the initiative of ACI Europe and the Airports Council International, that is the international organization that represents more than 500 airports in 55 countries.
It is a declaration of fundamental importance because it is one of the first steps towards the establishment of an EU Pact for the Decarbonisation of Aviation and also to establish a global target for international aviation this year.
What the Toulouse Declaration provides
The main objective of this agreement is to arrive at cancel net CO2 emissions by 2050 and for the first time they have united, for this important purpose:
- governments of individual countries;
- the European institutions;
- the trade unions;
- industries;
- the most important stakeholders.
A will be put in place international program to achieve the goal through intermediate measures and actions and a precise roadmap. These measures include:
- the improvement of aviation technology;
- the improvement of air operations;
- a more prudent use of fuels;
- the use of market-based tools.
Capodichino Airport at the forefront of sustainability
For several years our airport has been at the forefront of the ecological transition towards a zero-emission future and already in 2018 it was certified as a neutral airport for CO2 emissions.
In fact, it reached the level neutrality by the Airport Carbon Accreditation body. In this way we recognize his activity in this fundamental sector that makes the difference for our future.
