Lapis - Tales from the womb of Naples: theatrical visit in the subsoil of the historic center

The Cultural Association NarteA arrange for Saturday January 7 2023 starting at 19:30 a special appointment with a theatrical visit in the subsoil of the ancient center of Naples, in particular at the Lapis Museum.

It will be called Lapis – Tales from the womb of Naples, and it will be an exciting and evocative journey that will wind through the history of Naples, starting from the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore and then arriving at the crypt and the underground rooms, where guests will be able to experience a fascinating journey through time.

He will be at the helm of the theatrical visit Matteo Borriello with the plays written by Fabo Quercia and interpreted by Mario di Fonzo, Irene Grasso, Katia Tannoia. At the end of the visit guests will be offered an exquisite aperitif with tasting of Vino Grego di Tufo DOCG from the Kapemort line (Cantina Donnachiara).

The history of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore

The Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Naples it was built on the remains of the temple of Diana in 533 by order of the Bishop Pomponio. Its construction is linked to an ancient popular legend, according to which the devil, in the form of a pig, infested the ancient centre.

Bishop Pomponius made his decision following a dream in which the Madonna ordered him to erect the basilica in the place where a celestial clothand, under which was a rock with a cross, the holy stonewhich later became an object of veneration.
