At the Piccolo Bellini theater there is a contemporary story about Luther and the sense of revolution, a eulogy of the
doubt and critical thinking

The association Theater in Fabula will bring on stage at the theater Little Bellini of Naples, Tuesday 27 January 2015, the show The 95 theses - A history of Luther, an initiative of the "Naples Young City: young people build the future of the City" project, promoted by the Department of Youth and Youth Policies, Creativity and Innovation, as part of the Local Youth Plans - Metropolitan Cities, promoted and supported by the Department of Youth - Presidency of the Council of Ministers and Anci - National Association of Italian Municipalities.

Project and direction by Giuseppe Cerrone and Antonio Piccolo, with Raffaele Ausiello, Sergio Del Prete, Aniello Mallardo, Alessandro Paschitto and Antonio Piccolo.

The project was carried out by 20 young people under 30 who wanted to offer an original point of view on the common man and his imperfections, developing in particular one of the themes most dear to man, namely that of dreams.

The show investigates the Luther's "human" figure, here understood more like "Martino", a person, more than a character, who finds himself embodying the loneliness of modern man, in the complex psychology of the twentieth century, taking only as a pretext the historical events of the time of Luther the religious reformer. Martino he is a man who expects those who impose the rules to respect them and demonstrate their correctness, who is not afraid to tear apart a world that is taken for granted must be as it is.

Luther committed himself with all his heart to another Church, another Christ, another God. Could he have fought effectively for a more just society? We don't believe it. It is as if the essence he embodied structurally prevented him from passing from the theological to the political. It is as if his genius knew perfectly his range, his skills, his limits.

The pièce is based on the elaboration of three texts, by Bainton, Luther Blisset, but above all on Luther by John Osborne, who entrusts the burden of telling the story of the well-known religious reformer to a twentieth-century language. And the entire staging respects the contemporaneity of the story told.

The 95 theses is a show performed by 2015 actors, who tell us a possible story of Martin Luther. Which, coincidentally, took place 500 years ago. But, to see it, it would not seem like it.

The result is a show that represents neither an apology for Luther, nor a condemnation, but a praise of doubt and critical thinking. IS the twentieth century and the post-modern who question themselves through the emblematic use of a figure of rupture, of split, of revolution.
