Green initiative in Naples and in particular in Sorrento which inaugurates the arrival of the specials plastic eating machines. It is a first eco-compactor which is located in the Achille Lauro municipal parking area and which was installed by the Municipality of Sorrento in collaboration with Penisola Verde and the Coripet consortium.
As explained by the president of the city council, Louis Di Prisco, the use of this eco-compactor will lead to select PET bottles, reduce their volume and thus promote theirs recycling. This will contribute to separate collection and contain the production of plastic waste.
How to contribute to the initiative
To be able to contribute to the initiative, just download theCoripet application on your smartphone and complete the registration. It will then be necessary to go to the eco-compactor and complete the recognition using the barcode of the application, at this point a door will open where you can insert your bottles.
In particular, the latter will have to be empty, uncrushed, with the label intact and with the PET symbol. For each bottle entered will earn an ecopoint. Once collected 200 ecopoints, it will be possible to go to the Ambiente counter, always near the machine, and you will receive it a voucher worth 3 euros that you can spend, with an expense of at least 30 euros, at the participating commercial activities.

The ultimate goal is to collect at least 77% of the PET bottles placed on the market by 2025 and 90% by 2030.
