The Teatro Stabile di Napoli, the Campania Foundation of Festivals - Napoli Teatro Festival Italia in collaboration with the Alexandrinsky Theater in Saint Petersburg set up Teatro Mercadante of Naples, the show The Trojans of Euripides, which will go on stage from 22 to 28 March 2017.This work, represented for the first time in 415 BC, is inserted in the trilogy of the Trojan War, of which it is the only complete work remaining, and represents the final act.
After the fall of the city of Troy, Trojan women are assigned to the winners as slaves. It is the tragedy of the losers who, however, will see the Trojans preserve their human dignity as opposed to the so-called heroes who behave like cruel torturers, capable of the most brutal barbarism without any pity or conscience.
The staging, curated by Russian directors Valery Fokin and Nikolay Roshin, sees the protagonist Angela Pagano and an all-Italian cast. The costumes and settings are modern and the directors want to emphasize how pain and the misfortune of the losers in the face of the aggressiveness of the winners it is a theme that is always present in the history of humanity and, unfortunately, also in the contemporary world.
