From tonight, 2 January, and until 18 January 2015 you can attend, al Bellini Theater of Naples, to the now famous representation of the comedy The voices inside, a tribute to Eduardo de Filippo.

Toni Servillo directs and interprets, flanked by his brother Peppe, the darkest and most bitter Edwardian opera, in a version that has already collected the success of the public and critics after its debut, in March 2013, at the Théâtre du Gymnase in Marseille, and his replicas in Girona, St. Petersburg, London, Madrid and Barcelona.

In Naples the show The voices inside he went on stage twice San Ferdinando Theater, the latest on November 2, broadcast live on television by RAI 1 directed by Paolo Sorrentino, on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the death of Eduardo De Filippo.

The voices inside also obtained a number of important theatrical awards: in 2013 the 'Masks of the Italian theater' award in the five sections in which it was nominated: best drama show, best direction, best leading actor, best supporting actor (Peppe Servillo) and best supporting actress (Chiara Baffi). Again in 2013 Peppe Servillo for The voices inside won the UBU Prize for Best Supporting Actor.

Secondo Toni Servillo Eduardo

is the most extraordinary and perhaps the last representative of a contemporary popular dramaturgy, after him the prevalence of the formal aspect has increasingly distanced the theater from an authentically popular dimension [...] To face his works means to insinuate himself in that unstable equilibrium between writing and orality that makes his theater ambiguous and always surprising. Following his teaching I try in my work to never prevail the text on the interpretation, the interpretation on the text, the direction on the text and on the interpretation. The deep silent space that exists between the text, the performers and the audience is filled with meaning evening by night on the stage, replies after reply.

In this text Eduardo manages to create dimensions suspended between dream and reality, digging deep into the bad conscience of his characters and, consequently, also of the public. The dark story is triggered after the dream of Alberto Saporito on the murder of a friend, whose culprits would be his neighbors. The confusion between truth and illusion generates a series of suspicions, and a mechanism that will reveal all the pettiness of the protagonists.

To push Eduardo to write this comedy was the collapse of values that would have characterized society following the Second World War for the following decades. "And even today it seems that Alberto Saporito, a man-character, comes down from the stage to get closer to the spectator telling him that the story that is being told concerns him, because we are all victims, overwhelmed by indifference, of another moral post-war".
