Guided tours, walks, shows, narrations and artistic performances to discover the Stairs of Naples for the May of 2015 Monuments
"Escalators under the moon, diagonals and secret passages, a path that has always existed, the treasure of the ancient city".
So sang Eduardo Bennato, referring to his "Oblique City", the Naples that is neither horizontal nor vertical and which winds in numerous streets and alleys which lead upwards from the bottom and vice versa. Among these paths there are also the ancient and suggestive ones Stairs of Naples, long steps that connect many places in the city, often reachable only through these itineraries and that we can discover thanks to the May of 2015 Monuments.
The stairs of Naples, a treasure to be discovered
In Naples i Natural pedestrian paths are well 200, 135 of which consist of real stairs, while 69 are terraced, itineraries that hide beauties and treasures not very well known. This is why this year's edition of the Maggio dei Monumenti has organized dozens of itineraries and events to enhance these routes, often victims of neglect.
We can thus participate in guided tours, musical and theatrical performances, walks and stories to discover the Pedamentina stairs, the Stairs of San Marcellino and Montesanto, the Petraio or the ancient stairs of the Cerriglio.
Among the most interesting events, we point out the urban trekking route on the Stairs of the Montagnola in which De Sica shot the first episode of “Yesterday, today and tomorrow”, the historical-artistic walk to discover Caravaggio and the Cerriglio stairs and the many theatrical performances organized on the Pedamentina.
