May of Monuments 2020 in Naples dedicated to Giordano Bruno: numerous virtual events scheduled!

The fantastic date with is renewed May of Monuments in Naples, an event that is now in its 26th edition and that this year will take place in a particular way from 2 to 31 May 2020.

In fact due to the health emergency for the Coronavirus, May of Monuments 2020 will organize artistic and cultural information performances that will be carried out on Web platforms, in live streaming or on demand.

Where to attend the May of Monuments online

The events will take place every day on social channels of the Department to Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Naples: specifically on the Facebook page and on Instagram profile.

May of Monuments 2020: a tribute to Giordano Bruno

The theme proposed by the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Naples will be Giordano Bruno 20/20: the vision against catastrophes. 

Scheduled approx 100 performance and reviews that will last from a minimum of 5 minutes to a maximum of 30, with the aim of highlighting and giving value to the material and immaterial heritage of the city, in the spirit of the May of Monuments.

In addition, all the artists and associations that participate will make their proposals exclusively in live streaming, on demand, except in cases of reduction of ministerial and regional measures to restrict the free movement of persons on the national and regional territory currently in force.

Real places become virtual

For this edition of the May of Monuments, the places that are usually the settings of the many events will not disappear, but will in any case be protagonists, strictly without audience. Between churches, cloisters, museums, historical theaters and monuments we can see the Certosa di San Martino Museum, the Ancient Roman Theater at Anticaglia, the Convent of San Domenico Maggiore, the Church of San Severo al Pendino in via Duomo, theAstronomical Observatory of Capodimonte, the Fontanelle Cemetery, the Maschio Angioino, the Railway Museum of Pietrarsa and many others.

In the impossibility of carrying out the usual guided tours, shows and concerts, the artists will perform in those places, broadcasting their performances online.

Tribute to the philosopher Aldo Masullo

The homage to the philosopher cannot be missing Aldo Masullo, honorary citizen of the city, recently passed away. Gi will come dedicated the inaugural day of the event, that is Saturday 2 May, with video interventions by the Minister of University and Research Gaetano Manfredi, the Mayor of Naples Luigi De Magistris, the Councilor for Culture and Tourism Eleonora de Majo and Nuccio Order, ordinary of Italian literature at the 'University of Calabria.
