Following the rejection of the Zan law in the Senate, thousands of people took to the streets in different cities to demonstrate against this decision and also Naples will be heard on Saturday 30 October 2021 in Largo Berlinguer.

The citizens of Naples want to protest against the stop in the Senate, a serious blow to the bill that for many months has kept the public debate going in our country by dividing political representatives a lot.

The protest in Naples

The appointment is in Largo Berlinguer at 18.00, after the garrison already organized a couple of days ago in Piazza Dante, to make one's voice heard in favor of the text against homotransphobia and in favor of the rights of the LGBT + community and against gender discrimination. The protest is organized by Arcigay and the rights movements in support of DDL zan.

As stated by Antonello Sannino of Arcigay Napoli: "We do not accept Palazzo maneuvers on our skin, on the skin of millions of citizens" nor the silence of the Government and Democratic Institutions. That's why we go down again to the streets and without giving up.

In fact, the rejection in the Senate seems to increase even more the distance between the world of politics, people and their rights and it was deemed a shameful action that does not take a step towards the fight against discrimination. Even today it is increasingly important to join forces to fight for the rights of all.

What is DDL Zan

This is the bill that takes its name from the deputy of the PD Alessandro Zan and whose purpose is to increase the penalties for crimes and discrimination against homosexuals, transsexuals, disabled people and women.

The text was approved in the Chamber in November last year and provides that homophobic crimes are equated with those of article 604 bis of the Criminal Code which are against racism and hatred on a religious basis.

According to the penalties provided for by the article, these crimes are punished with the imprisonment for up to 4 years, therefore, gender discrimination based on sex, gender identity, disability and sexual orientation would also be punished in the same way.

The bill also provides forestablishment of a national day against homophobia, biphobia, lesbophobia and transphobia.
