The 2016 Capri-Naples swimming marathon will challenge many swimmers in an offshore 36 km race!
La Capri-Naples swimming crossing is one of the most important annual sporting events for our city and sees the competition between dozens of athletes running well 36 km as the crow flies.
This year's edition will be the 51st and will take place on 4 September 2016 and it is a stage of the FINA World Grand Prix which will assign, as always, the title of world champion in water marathons.
It is the swimming marathon among the most difficult to be tackled on the open sea and, precisely for this reason, it has been renamed the marathon par excellence.
The departure takes place from Marina Grande in Capri, in the Gulf of Naples, an evocative competition field, while the arrival is expected on the Lungomare in Naples.
The Giulio Travaglio Award for the best Italian athlete will also be introduced this year. The “Piccolo Supermercati” Trophy for men and, for the first time, the “Pomilia Energia” Trophy for women, will also be awarded.
After the race, and until the September 20, there will also be one photographic exhibition free dedicated to the swimming legend Giulio Travaglio at the Renaissance Naples-Hotel Mediterraneo.
