The 2015 Cinema Marathon will be full of festivals and film reviews for three months of events in Naples!

For many years now Naples, in the months following the summer, has experienced what can be defined as a "cinema season”Thanks to the organization of a series of events that bring to the attention of the public films with the most disparate themes.

Also for the 2015 we will be able to attend what will be the Cinema Marathon is from the month of September 2015 will continue until December with a series of events, each of which is characterized by its own specific path.
A marathon of about three months that will lead us into a complex rich itinerary of festivals, reviews, meetings, debates, insights. Events that address both a broad and generic audience, but at the same time are also targeted to specific categories of viewers depending on the topic addressed.

The way will give it the Naples Film Festival from the September 28, also doing a series of tributes to Giancarlo Siani, Eduardo, Mario Monicelli and talking about the very current topic of Europe and the Mediterranean.

Naples Film Festival
28 from September to October 4 2015

Mario Martone will inaugurate it and the screenings will take place at the PAN, the Metropolitan cinema, the Institut Francais and the Cervantes Institute. Numerous tributes will be made to famous directors and personalities, such as Eduardo and Giancarlo Siani, and topics such as the problems faced by Europe today will be addressed.

Artecinema
15 from October to 18 2015

Now in its 20 edition, will inaugurate with an appointment at Teatro San Carlo in which the films "Art War " by Marco Wilms on street art as a method of protest in Egypt during the Arab Spring and the film "Jeff Koons: Diary of a Seducer”By Jill Nicholls.
The exhibition includes the screening of documentaries on the greatest artists, architects and photographers of the last fifty years in the sections Art and Surroundings, Architecture, Photography. You will be able to observe the artists while they are working on their works and the documentaries will be in original language with simultaneous translation in the headphones, interspersed with debates with directors, producers and artists.

Venice in Naples - The extended cinema
21 from October to 25 2015

The review will present one selection of films presented at the last Venice International Film Festival to promote the films screened in the Competition, Horizons, Classics, Giornate degli Autori and Critics' Week sections.
"Extended cinema" because it will take place in cinema in the center and suburbs with meetings with authors and actors. There will be films in the original language, debates with the protagonists and the participation of associations, institutes of culture, universities. It will be preceded by two previews:

  • September 25th
    The director Vincenzo Marra at the Filangieri cinema will present “La prima luce”, a film presented in the official selection of the Venice Days and winner of the “Special Pasinetti Award” as Best Film.
  • 2 October
    the master of Israeli cinema Amos Gitai at the Metropolitan Cinema will meet the public of Naples at the screening (exclusive in Italy after the one in Venice) of his latest work "Rabin the last day", which will also be a special event of the Naples Film Festival.

Naples Human Rights Film Festival
from the 9 14 2015 November

It will take place in different locations around the city and will focus on fundamental rights of the citizen. Comparisons will be made between the critical issues of other countries and those of our society in line with the idea of ​​"Naples, Capital of human rights". The issue of human rights will be addressed in various countries, such as Pakistan and Sri Lanka through films by directors who they will also give voice to activists. This is the case of Iara Lee's film about Pakistan and the Sahara or the documentary about Srebrenica.
But we will also talk about Italy, for example with the in-depth study onex OPG of Materdei in Naples, and the current theme of forced migration.

'O curt - International short film festival
from the 18 21 2015 November

I best short films from the five continents will be the protagonists of the Festival 'O curt. The program will be full of meetings with authors, screenings, round tables, debates, retrospectives, art exhibitions.
It will be divided into 5 competitive sections:

  • 'O Curt International: short audiovisuals by national and international authors
  • 'O Curt International Animation: animated short films
  • 'National Competition
  • 'O Curt Napoli: reserved for authors born or residing in Campania
  • Educational: short films made in school, educational and laboratory contexts

The director Victor Erice will be the international guest of the review, also included in the circuit Acción Cultural Española, dedicated to promotion of Spanish culture outside national borders. The cultural institutes in the city will collaborate on the festival: Institut Français Napoli, Goethe Institut, Instituto Cervantes and Istituto Confucio.

Omovies - International Festival of homosexual, transsexual and questioning cinema
from the 5 12 2015 December

In its eighth edition, the Festival is an occasion in which directors, jurors and the public face the “genre” themes included in films and documentaries. A novelty will be the active participation of the public within the popular jury to select the candidates to be submitted to the academy.
The section OMOVIES Festival di Cinema Omosessuale e Questioning @ School will address the issue of homophobic bullying, Omovies @ Summer will be a summer film festival. The review will be an in-depth study and moment of reflection on homosexuality and sexual discrimination also through participation in workshops, debates will open with the Open Party event and conclude with the Omovies Grand Gala.
