The summer is now over and with it the usual seasonal break of the theaters of our city that will open their doors to the public in the coming days, welcoming it with a new program of shows.
Starting from the month of October 2017 theater lovers, but also those who intend to approach this splendid art, will have the opportunity to cultivate it by attending one varied selection of shows of all kinds, from classical works to contemporary dramaturgy, from comedies to musicals, from ballet to opera.

Six characters in search of an author
Luca De Fusco opens the 2017 / 2018 season of Mercadante, of which he is artistic director, with one of his directing dedicated to one of the most famous works of Luigi Pirandello, in a show that revisits the original drama by contaminating cinematographic and theatrical art.

San Ferdinando Theater
Emergency exit
The historical theater of Eduardo De Filippo opens his season with the first text of Manlio Santanelli, written in the 1978. An intense and dramatic story focused on the story of Cyril and Peace, two men who, finding themselves alone and homeless, decide to go and live in a district of Naples destroyed by the earthquake. Their dialogues and their interaction, between bickering, misunderstanding and threats, will express the lack of communication between human beings, the precariousness of life, and all the bitterness of solitude.

Teatro Bellini
Glob (e) at Shakespeare
After the success of the Naples Theater Festival, returns to the Bellini Theater the theater festival dedicated to Shakespeare is will transform the entire theater into the legendary Elizabethan Globe Theater, where in the distant '500 William Shakespeare held his shows. The audience will be deprived of chairs and armchairs to allow the actors to perform directly in the hall, in close contact with the spectators. The program includes some of the most famous Shakespearean works on various dates from the 3 to the 25 October.

Little Bellini
The ammo nun'è ammore. 30 sonnets by Shakespeare
Show dedicated to the late artist and composer parenopeo Dario Jacobelli which translated into the Neapolitan language 30 sonnets by William Shakespeare interpreted, on stage, by Lino Musella which will alternate, to interpret them, different genres. From the mastery of the art comedians to the rhythms of the great Neapolitan comedy, from the sceneggiata to the farce, giving a new theatricality to the compositions of the Bard.

New Theater of Naples
Ferdinando
The director Nadia Baldi brings on stage one of the most famous works of Annibale Ruccello and which tells the story of two women, Donna Clotilde, a Bourbon baroness who chose to take refuge in a villa in the Vesuvian area as a sign of contempt for the new bourgeois culture, and Gesualda, her poor cousin, and of the disarray brought home by Ferdinando, young nephew of Donna Clotilde. A man with a "morbid and creeping" beauty, who will bare contradictions, burying uncomfortable truths.

The Servants
One of the most famous works by the controversial French director and writer Jean Genet, whose story is inspired by a real news story and whose staging unveils the mechanism of theatrical fiction, "in a continuous reversal between being and appearing, between imaginary and reality", as Jean-Paul Sartre said. A "black" fairytale directed by the director Giovanni Anfuso that reveals the profound violence that lives in human beings determining our existence.

Teatro San Carlo
Simon Boccanegra
On the stage of the Massimo Neapolitan will be staged a famous work by Giuseppe Verdi, based on a libretto by Francesco Maria Piave, based on the drama Simón Bocanegra by Antonio García Gutiérrez, with modifications made later by Arrigo Boito. The show was staged for the first time in the 1857 at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice.
The pièce is directed by Stefano Ranzani, with direction, scenes and costumes by Sylvano Bussotti, with the orchestra and choir of the Teatro di San Carlo.

Mario Gelardi is the author and director of a dramaturgical text that tells the hopes and expectations of a group of Italians in the south that 20 July 1969 are in a small railway station, about to change their lives, choosing to go to Switzerland to conquer something that in Italy it was, and still is, now lost: work.

Tales in winter
A project designed by Carlo Caracciolo to make the space of the Nuovo Teatro Sanità more lively and participatory by merging theater and literature and thus recovering the ancient art of the story, the ancestral origin of the theater itself. Some writers give the public a story, eliminating the distance between actors and audience, in the company of a refreshing tea.

One, none and a hundred thousand (CANCEL SHOW)
The novel "most bitter of all" but "deeply humorous" of Luigi Pirandello, as he himself defined it, will be presented here, interpreted by Enrico Lo Verso, in a new and original staging that will restore the relationship between word and sound within the scenic space. In fact the sounds of words, notes and syllables are the protagonists of this show in which music and narration contribute to the definition of thought.
The show Uno Nessuno Centomila directed by Alessandra Pizzi and starring Enrico Lo Verso, scheduled for the 28 and 29 October on the stage of the Nuovo Teatro Sanità, has been canceled for reasons beyond the control of the theater.
The artistic director Mario Gelardi has written a long letter published on his Facebook page on that official of the theater in which he expresses his regret for what happened.
