The exhibition on Antonio Ligabue, one of the most iconic painters of the twentieth century, will be in the Palatine Chapel of the Maschio Angioino in Naples!

In Palatine Chapel of the Maschio Angioino, or Castel Nuovo, a Napoli the exhibition dedicated to the artist Antonio Ligabue, one of the naive symbols of the twentieth century. The exhibition will be open from 11 October 2017 to 18 February 2018 and will allow the public to admire 80 works of the painter.

It is an excursus on the life and works of Ligabue, in which there will be 51 oils, 7 bronze sculptures, 1 section that focuses on producing graphics with 8 designs e 4 incisions and also a part that introduces his compelling biography. an introductory section on his incredible human story from the escape from Switzerland, a native country, to a hospitalization in one psychiatric hospital, until his arrival in the asylum.

A career path will be traced from the 20s to 1962 in which they will be shown the different techniques that have characterized his activity, on themes that are often repeated but, in repetition, are continually renewed.

The works of Antonio Ligabue

His art takes its origins from ahappy little childhoodand at our mental problems and from the great difficulties in communication and feelings. A series of impossibilities that have also brought him a kind of happiness through the creation of works of art that will help him overcome his limits.

In his paintings you can admire those that are the transfigurations of his internal demons, often in the form of animals, but another frequent theme is theself-portrait. These are canvases and drawings with an immediate impact and which immediately excite the viewer.

The exhibition is promoted by the Municipality of Naples - Department of Culture and Tourism and with the collaboration of Antonio Ligabue Museum Foundation of Gualtieri, is curated by Professor Sandro Parmiggiani, former director of Palazzo Magnani and director of the Antonio Ligabue di Gualtieri Museum Foundation and by Sergio Negri, president of the scientific committee of the same Foundation, with the general organization of COR Create Organize Realize.
