Naples exhibition of lava, porcelain and music at the Capodimonte Museum
Naples ... of lava, porcelain and music: an evocative exhibition of porcelain, theatrical costumes, musical instruments and much more at the Capodimonte Museum
Il 21 September 2019 at the Museum and Real Bosco di Capodimonte opens the exhibition “Naples Naples of lava, porcelain and music". Curated by Sylvain Bellenger, the exhibition will remain open until 10 October 2021.
The 18 salt of theRoyal apartment will be the totally exceptional stage on which beautiful costumes from the San Carlo Theater and Capodimonte porcelains will be staged, with the music to act as the real leitmotif of the exhibition.
Refinement, elegance and a lot of art
The exhibition tells the story of the capital of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies during the eighteenth century and the following years, from Charles of Bourbon a Ferdinand II. All narrated as if it were one Favola, with the succession of scenes of everyday life.
The exhibition aligns in its spaces beyond 1000 objects, 600 porcelain from the Royal Factories of Capodimonte and Naples, more than 100 costumes from the Teatro di San Carlo, musical instruments from the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory, paintings, art and furnishing objects and even taxidermized animals now preserved in the Zoological Museum of Naples.
The daily life of the 700s and the melodies of each room
Each scene was set up with extreme refinement and elegance and the figures were positioned in a very realistic way to recreate scenes from everyday life. An exhibition that catapults us into a almost enchanted world and what does it do to us immerse in the music by Giovanni Pergolesi to Domenico Cimarosa, from Giovanni Pacini to Giovanni Paisiello, from Leonardo Leo to Niccolò Jommelli, which form the thematic background in every single room.
The most beautiful works between porcelain and nature
One of the most beautiful objects is in the Party Hall and is a porcelain of Hermaphrodite Pulcinella, protagonist of the eighteenth-century commedia dell'arte.
Then we have the luxurious costumes from the collection of the San Carlo Theater, specifically those of the lazzari of Odette Nicoletti for The Marechiaro tavern di Giovanni Paisiello. The work represented in the 2001-2002 season under the direction of Maestro Roberto De Simone.
Nature is also the protagonist, as happens on the porcelain service di Carditello and other beautiful earthenware sets.
Taxidermized animals give us an idea of the local fauna of Capodimonte in the early 900s and we can find it Sparrowhawk, Red-footed falcon, Eagle owl, Eurasian Hobby , Fox.
The video projections
In the last room of the exhibition there are some video projections artist Stefano Gargiulo / Kaos Productions. Four large monitors scroll through images of the Naples of yesterday and today with somehistorical archive of the San Carlo Theater. A nice summary of the Naples in the eighteenth century, capital of the arts.
We point out that it is promoted by Museum and Real Bosco di Capodimonte in collaboration with the Teatro San Carlo of Naples and with the production and organization of the Electa publishing house.
