Cultural agreement between Naples, Pompeii and St. Petersburg: exhibitions on Canova and Russian vedutists are on the way!

Big news coming to the archaeological site d Pompei. Following a toagreement signed in St. Petersburg, in the presence of the Minister of Cultural Heritage Franeschini, for four years will be promoted research, studies and cultural exchanges between the Russian museum, the National Archaeological Museum of Naples and the Pompeii Superintendency.

An important collaboration in which there will be a sharing of experiences and skills regarding the archaeological excavation, the preparation of international and the joint implementation of exhibition projects.

Internships and conferences

They will not fail study internship among scientific collaborators and specialists in the history of art, archeology, and will also take place scientific conferences, conferences, seminarsi on the conservation and restoration of the artistic heritage in relation to technology and multimedia.

The interest will focus on the production of goldsmiths and ancient jewels made by the ancient Scythian populations and by the Romans in Pompeii, the bridge between the classical world and modern art through theCanova's art, the cultural contaminations between Roman and Hellenic civilizations, Magna Graecia and Ancient Italy.

Finally, the representation of the Neapolitan landscape made by Italian and Russian artists in modern times will be shown as well as the historical links between St. Petersburg and Naples starting from the Bourbon age.

Exhibitions in Naples

According to the first official information, an exhibition on Pompeii will be held in 2018 at the Hermitage in St. Petersburg and three exhibitions at the Archaeological Museum Naples Nationalgold of the Scythians (in 2018), on the sculptor Antonio Canova (first half of 2019) and one exhibition on Russian vedutists, including the painter Sil'vestr Feodosievic Šcedrin, in Naples and Campania (second half of 2019).
