Toto represents the heart of the story of Napoli. For this reason, the city councilor of Naples Gennaro Demetrio Paipais proposed to establish a prize precisely in memory of Totò, the internationally renowned Neapolitan actor who left an indelible mark on Neapolitan and Italian culture.
A scholarship for young talents
Not just an award, but a real one occasione for young of Naples. The proposal provides for the creation of a scholarship intended for young talents who will stand out for their research and their artistic execution, in order to enhance the Neapolitan theatrical tradition. The prize will be awarded during the 2023, during an event that will host important Neapolitan artists.
In this way seeds Neapolitan theater and the inestimable value of the artistic heritage left by Totò will join the contemporaneity of young Neapolitans who wish to distinguish themselves in the sector.
The presentation of the proposal
The proposal of Councilor Paipais was presented to the Mayor of Naples Gaetano Manfredi, to the cultural policy coordinator of the Municipality of Naples Sergio Locoratolo, to the managing director of the Mayor for the music and audiovisual industry Ferdinando Tozzi and, finally, to the President of the Culture Commission Luigi Carbone.
The scholarship will be a recognition significant for young people who contribute to promotion of Neapolitan culture, consolidating the position of Napoli as a city of music, theatre, cinema and art.
