Night of Tammorra Naples

The Night of Tammorra returns to Naples, the great popular festival designed by Carlo Faiello held every year in Piazza Mercato

La Night of Tammorra is the festival of culture and popular music which is held every year in Naples the 13 and 14 July in Piazza Mercato, historical site of the kermis designed by the Neapolitan composer Carlo Faiello.

Now in its XIII edition, the Night of Tammorra is an opportunity for all the Neapolitan and Campania public to immerse themselves in the sound of popular tradition, in a context that cares about the protection and preservation of the cultural heritage of our land.

La Night of Tammorra it is very successful every year precisely because it offers the possibility of knowing one's past in a continuous confrontation with the "bearers of tradition" and the "builders of memory": musicians, artisans, associations and representatives of local communities of the Region. The event is presented by the Municipality of Naples and the Campania Region, with the aim of promoting a Festival dedicated to the Protection of Intangible Heritage and the defense of Popular Culture.

Music, dance and singing they will be the undisputed protagonists of the two days, with the spirit of confirming the link between tradition and innovation.

Night of Tammorra Naples

All shows are, of course, to free entry, and will consist of "ancestral" musical performances with period instruments such as bagpipes, flying guitars, ciaramelle, castanets and tammorre. They will be proposed tarantella and moresche, tammurriate and tarts tarantate, saltarelli and songs to expanse and, at the same time, there will be space for the contemporary popular music performed by young people who start from the sounds of tradition to compose unusual sound forms, with a continuous reference to the past.

The popular show of the Night of Tammorra will start in concomitance with the traditional Feast of Carmine, the most important Neapolitan religious celebration to be held from 12 to 16 July between Piazza del Carmine and Piazza Mercato.
