In the context of Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Municipality of Naples and the State Railways, where there was discussion of the upcoming opening of metro line 6 in San Pasquale and on the entire route, new good news also emerged.
It is of 'opening of the subway also in Posillipo. In fact, the Municipality is thinking of extending line 6 with a station in Piazza San Luigi, the nerve center of the Posillipo district.
At the moment there is already a pre-feasibility study and the works should cost around 100 million euros. A date has already been ventured: it could open by 2026.
The lift between Piazza San Luigi and Via Petrarca
Among the projects proposed by the Municipality in discussions with the State Railways, there is also the one on the construction of an elevator that connects Piazza San Luigi to Via Petrarca.
It would be a convenient connection between two areas of Posillipo, the lower one and the upper one. In this way, those who will get off with the metro in Piazza San Luigi, can easily go to Via Petrarca using the lift.
A new funicular in Posillipo
The creation of one was also discussed new funicular for Posillipo Alta. The details are not yet known, but it would be a new link to the highest area, in fact. We remind you that at the moment the Mergellina Funicular connects Mergellina with via Manzoni, even if it has been closed for more than a year.
Metro line 10 between Naples and Afragola
A new piece of news also concerns the realization of a line 10 of the subway that will connect our city with Afragola and the High Speed Tav station.
The line would pass through Casavatore and Casoria and this would be possible thanks to government funds. In fact, the councilor for transport Edoardo Cosenza stated that discussions are underway with Rome and the answers will soon be available.
