Eyes on Saturn, a special guided tour that will take place during the evening at the Astroni forest.
In collaboration with the Neapolitan Amateur Astronomers Union, the nature reserve “Astroni crater” organize a special evening guided tour which will focus attention in particular on Saturn, the planet of the solar system.
We start with one video projection on the celestial body and on the mission of the Cassini spacecraft that from 10 years orbits around the planet. Afterwards, participants will have the opportunity to observe Saturn through i telescopes placed on the square in front of the reserve and then the event will turn into an exciting and adventurous guided evening tour in the Astroni forest.
Hikers will be able to admire the night in the dark and in the evening tranquility and gentle cosmetics surrounded by darkness and hear the voices of the inhabitants of the reserve like great titans, falcons, owls, foxes, weasels, hedgehogs, dormice and many other species that make up the fauna of the crater. Once you reach the great Farnia you will be able to observe the spring sky.
The organizers inform that the guided tour in the woods begins with a dirt track along 350 m, with 160 irregular steps and with a difference in height of 80 m. The same path is taken to get out of the woods. Also, they advise to wear shoes by excursion or gymnastics, one sweatshirt and to bring one electric torch.
Program of the evening
- 18.00: "Pythagoras among us" by Eng. John Shepherd.
- 19.30: "Eyes on Saturn" intervention by the Neapolitan Astronomers Union "Cassini, a great Astronomer, an excellent mission" by Eng. Domenico Cesiro and short video projection on the Astroni Crater Nature Reserve by Andrea Vitolo.
- 20.30 pm: observation of Saturn through a telescope, organized by the Unione Astrofili Napoletani.
- 21.00 Hours: guided tour of the Astroni forest.
- 23.00 Hours: ascent from the forest and end of activities.
