Autumn edition of the evening concerts at the Pausilypon archaeological park. For the first time, the Pausilypon Acoustic Orchestra will perform as a tribute to Cuban culture

After the extraordinary success ofMay and June edition 2013, the evocative concert review that takes place in the setting of the Roman theaters of Pausilypon returns. "Suggestions at dusk" is, in fact, the title of the event and by itself suggests the fascinating experience that can be lived during the evenings.

If the summer edition received a enorme succeso, both critics and audiences, obtaining more than three thousand admissions in 8 evenings, the autumn one promises to replicate the excellent results. "Pausilypon: suggestions at dusk”Is made possible by the Gaiola Onlus Interdisciplinary Study Center, in agreement with the Special Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of Naples and Pompeii, which for at least 10 years has been involved in the redevelopment of these fantastic places that have been too abandoned.

Between September and October, therefore, there will be 7 evenings that will host international artists and Neapolitan musicians who sink their art into culture and tradition, both theatrical and musical, Neapolitan.

Furthermore, for the first time, l'Pausilypon Acoustic Orchestra, composed of 14 Neapolitan musicians who came to know each other during the previous four editions and which will debut the 5 October. The evening will be a tribute to Mediterranean and Cuban culture and music.

Finally, it must be said that, before each appointment, there will be a very special guided tour that will take all guests to the evocative places of Pausilypon, from the Grotta di Seiano to the Odeion and to the Theater of the Ancient Villa D'Otium di Publio Vedio Pollione, where they will meet the artists.

Of course, on no evening is a scenic, electronic and infrastructural set-up used to preserve the archaeological site and make the experience more fascinating and engaging.

14 Settembre
"Mediterranean echoes", With M'Barca Ben Taleb trio M'Barca Ben Taleb (voice and darbuka), Giosi Cincotti (accordion and arrangements), Arcangelo Caso (cello)

M'Barca Ben Taleb is a Tunisian artist, singer, dancer and musician. Through references to tradition and modernity, she plays the darbuka, a percussion instrument widespread mainly in North Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia. She will perform by offering the audience a show of original songs which also includes traditional Arabic music combined with Neapolitan melodic sounds. In this way you will achieve the union of two great civilizations of the Mediterranean.

Scognamiglio and Jertens try to narrate the beauties of a world sung entirely by children who, however, "have been deprived of their sexual peculiarity, therefore of their identity, and therefore of any possibility of leading a normal life". Beauty and suffering, therefore, thanks to the voices of castrati because "for more than two hundred years in the European musical capitals (Naples was among them) it was unthinkable not to make use of" their singing skills.

Aion, of "Tricatiempo"
Stefano Costanzo (drums), Marco Pezzenati (Vibraphone), Ron Grieco (double bass), Davide Maria Viola (cello, Giuseppe Vietri (saxophone)

The Tricatiempo are an entirely Neapolitan group founded by the musician and composer Stefano Costanzo. They will propose a live full of post-rock sounds with a typically jazz system in its improvisational approach. Their songs are all original and their name derives from an expression of the archaic Neapolitan, “tricare il tempo”, which means “to have the calm to know how to wait for things to take the exact shape”.

Reading

It will be an evening entirely dedicated to contemporary reading and archaic reading to evoke ancient poets and writers such as Homer, Sophocles and Sappho, together with modern intellectuals such as Marguerite Yourcenar, capable, in its modernity, of evoking the same moods of its ancient predecessors.

Tanitsufi 
Marzouk Mejri (vocals, nay, darbouka and bendir, flutes), Stefano Costanzo (drums, percussion, campane), Ron Grieco (double bass)

Evening in which the protagonist is the Tunisian multi-instrumentalist Marzouk Mejri. Tanitsufi is the name of his new project that makes an excursus into the Tunisian Sufi devotional tradition, rich in melodies, rhythms and songs of a mystical character and typical of the many brotherhoods that populate North Africa.

Greens 
Orlando Cinque, Mariano Bellopede (piano) and Elena Somma (soprano). Directed by Bruno Garofalo

Acronym of “There is reason to question ourselves”?, V.è.rdi will perform in a recital for pianist, soprano and actor. Theirs is an invitation to question ourselves about our country, but above all about our city, Naples, and how “our extraordinary culture is often derided and offended, a culture that, despite everything, continues to love us”.

5 October
Orichas
Pausilypon Acoustic Orchestra curated by Francesco Capriello with the collaboration of Paolo Batà Bianconcin

Evening in which the Pausilypon Acoustic Orchestra makes its debut, composed of 14 Neapolitan musicians and which will make a personal tribute to Cuban music. They will perform, in fact, with original arrangements, "traditional songs of Santeria dedicated to the Orichas, semi-deities originally belonging to the mythology of the Yoruba people of West Africa".
