In the suggestive Arena of Pietrarsa the Vertigo Dance Company investigates the dichotomy between finite and infinite through the steps of eight dancers

If until a couple of years ago the performances of the Vertigo Dance Company they represented the experimentation in our city that managed to find space inside the Naples Theater Festival, it can be said that today the shows of the Israeli dance company led by the choreographer Noa Wertheim they have become a fixture in the Neapolitan theater kermesse. So much so that we have the privilege, in this seventh edition, to inaugurate the festival, to record the sold out for two evenings, and to allow a now passionate audience to attend the general rehearsals of Reshimo, their new choreography.

Last night, from 22:30 pm, the Arena built under the stars, in the suggestive location of Railway Museum of Pietrarsa, has been filled to welcome the dancers of the Vertigo Dance Company, who chose Naples and its international festival to present the world premiere of Reshimo.

Eight dancers, four women and four men, create space with the movements of their bodies spaces without patterns and magnetic fields able to release force, passion, sensuality, energy, precision, fluidity, in an attempt to explore the limit between finite and infinite. Their gestures evoke the tribal dance and are inspired by Cabal, through a mysterious language made up of physical and body codes that communicate with the spectators thanks to the expressiveness of iterative gestures that are repeated over time and space, alternating synchrony and asynchrony. In a ritual process with an ancestral but always current flavor, able to compose the essence of the scene between plasticity and visual suggestion that leave the spectator enchanted, transporting him on a magical journey within himself thanks to the power of dance.

Before the eyes of the public comes a collage of situations only evoked, a series of moments that now transmit pathos, now carefree, now worry, now joy, in an alternation of emotions that do not need words or descriptions, but only the language primitive of gesture, gaze and movement in the space of bodies.

As always, to give shape and life to the performance that takes place on stage, the notes of the compositions of Ran Bathroom, historical musician of the Vertigo Dance Company, who do not represent a mere background sound, but who write the scene and dictate its essence and expressiveness.

But the magic of Reshimo it was not conveyed solely by Vertigo's choreography and the evocative gestures of her dancers. What also involved and excited the audience was the incredible and surprising "frame" chosen ad hoc by the company and the Napoli Teatro Festival to host the show. An arena built in the most evocative area of the Pietrarsa Museum, the ancient railway station. The one that allows you to admire, for the entire duration of the performance, it "Background" of the Gulf of Naples almost as if it were a living postcard, on a splendid evening that heralds summer.

As soon as the lights went out to start the performance, before the dancers entered, on an empty stage that let you admire the coast that stretches out over the sea from San Giovanni a Teduccio to Posillipo, the feeling was just this. The Gulf of Naples, and the entire city, are the real spectacle of the Napoli Teatro Festival.

Reshimo it's still on stage tonight and tomorrow (6 and 7 June). Here the information on ticket prices.
