At Castel Sant'Elmo an exhibition on the artistic history of Naples developed in the 80s and 90s

The exhibition is extended until 16 February 2015.

The Museo del Novecento, based in the Castel Sant'Elmo, will host a really interesting exhibition on the artistic and cultural history of our city.

Rewind - Art in Naples 1980-1990 is an exhibition of over one hundred works by numerous artists who, as the title suggests, aim to tell us a complex part of the Neapolitan artistic history of the two decades '80 and '90.

Through the artistic compositions and documents present in the exhibition, visitors want to know the events of those years so crucial, even at an artistic level, for Naples; years in which the genius and experience of the great masters coexist, but also the experimentation of the youngest.

In particular, Rewind collects the works of the generation of emerging young people of the 80s, who had started to talk about themselves for the new features introduced with the figurative language, bringing the discourse on the artistic avant-gardes towards a conclusion.

You can admire the works of Carlo Alfano, Nino Longobar, Luigi Mainolfi, Mimmo Paladino, Ernesto Tafafiore, Francesco Clemente, thanks to the collaboration of the most important Art Galleries operating in those years such as Il Centro, Studio Trisorio, the Lucio Amelio gallery, Lia Rumma, Alfonso Artiaco, Studio Morra (some of them are still in business).
But there will also be works by international artists such as Hermann Nitsch, Gino De Dominicis, Jean Michel Alberola, Alberto Burri, Joseph Beuys, Sol LeWitt, Luigi Ontani, James Brown, Ronnie Cutrone, Kenny Scharf.
