At the Chestnut Festival in Sommana di Casertavecchia everything will be in medieval costume: also organized the game of tumbling. Do not miss it from the 18 to the 20 October
From the 18 to the 20 October the villages near Casertavecchia will become even more of the real medieval places. In fact, in Sommana, on the Tifatini Mountains, the fair returns of the chestnut, now in its twelfth edition. It will be a three-day event full of events and shows with a true medieval spirit.
The most intense day of the Fair will take place on October 19th, on the occasion of the “Journey through history: from the county of Casa Hirta to the Feudo di Sommana”. During that Saturday, in fact, suggestive events will be organized costume shows, with the presence of musicians, eaters, belly dancers, as well as numerous itinerant shows, the army camp, historical archery competitions.
Naturally, they can not be missing typical products of the area, which can be tasted by all visitors. In addition, we will also talk about crafts, folklore and entertainment and a meeting will be organized on the theme of "Urban Agriculture: the countryside in the city", chaired by the Regional Councilor for Agriculture Daniela Nugnes and with an intervention by the Mayor Pio Del Gaudio .
University professors, councilors and representatives of associations will also participate in the conference, scheduled for the 19.
The closing day of the Fair, October 20, will end with the Popular Games Festival which will offer a pleasant novelty to those present: the game of the roll.
It is a typical popular game that consists of tying a long string to a form of cheese, rolling it three times. The aim is to launch the form towards the finish line, in Piazza Chiesa, with the lowest number of throws, after having crossed the Sommana "horseshoe".
To attend the race there will be, as guests of the Castagna Fair, the Italian champions of the launch of the Asd Pontelandolfo cheese in the province of Benevento.
