Here comes the festival of laganelle and chickpeas: not just food and wine, but also music and dance in Roccabascerana!

August 8, 2016 in the municipality of Roccabascerana, in the province of Avellino will be held the XXV edition of the festival of the laganella and chickpeas, promoted by the socio-cultural Onlus “A 'Rocca” with the free patronage of the municipality.

The festival was born in 1991 in order to pass on the ancient traditions of these places and involve young and old in various activities. Today it has achieved great success and attracts people from other countries and regions.

The main dish of the party is, in fact, the laganella with chickpeas, also called "lamps and thunder”For the“ visceral turmoil ”it causes during digestion. It is a pasta similar to pappardelle prepared with a mixture of durum wheat flour, water and salt, 2 cm wide and 10-15 cm long. The recipe calls for them to be cooked and combined with a fried made with oil, garlic, guanciale, tomato and chilli, while lastly the previously boiled chickpeas will be added.

During the festival you can taste, in addition to the laganelle, many local products and dishes of the culinary tradition including zucchini alla scapece, Eggplant A Mushroom, peppers au gratin, mountain, sausages cooked according to the Roccabascerana tradition and many other succulent side dishes prepared by the expert hands of the women of the town.

During the festival theAglianico, a red wine from the Barbati di Roccabascerana farmhouse and, to complete the work, you can dance the smooth, the disco music and group dances with the Trio Live Show.
